Two Turtle Doves

"Mondo's Taurobolium" Devendra Banhart's video has some interesting lines and voice overs by Banhart and actress Rose McGowan. An animated video dealing with the hard boiled life of LA actors and a surreal twisted Howard the Duck influenced pseudo acid cartoon

Gavin Mays from Brooklyn blurring genres, drawing influences from across the water circa French Touch in NY B&W vibe
Cities Aviv – “URL IRL”

I remember bumping Diplo's and Luke's "Hey"at shows waaay back in 2009, haha I've been out(djlimerence) DJ'n since 1996 afk. A follow up with Mr.A-Trak helping out and It appears that they accomplished to make a track that mixes well with Harlem Shake.. Technicolor blacklights Yee!

Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse and James Mercer(singer from The Shins)combine on an adventure together named Broken Bells. They have been at it for a few years now. New album due next month so don't buy it (unless you're loaded) just relax and stream record that shit, He ripped off the Beatles/Jay-Z's White/Black album and masterfully created the Grey album which led to Danger Mouse's fame and fortune and who the F#$% are the Shins btw

Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, Mensa’s new video for “YNSP" collab with Disclosure's Eliza Doolittle, even though she's low budgetly absent from the video.. Which is ok because his tricked out shirt rules and he name drops Basquiat sooooooooooooow

Deltron 3030, a group that unites Del The Funky Homosapien with Kid Koala  and Dan The Automator. “Melding Of The Minds,” a collab w/ Zack De La Rocha from Rage Against The Machine. Epic heads! Powder PUff fun animated robots and turntables. Freedom!!!

It took me this long, but I now can finally appreciate Eminem.. Actually I just like Max Headroom imitations :p

I have a really hard time taking this video or beat seriously, but its gawky innocence kept me watching, and I like the lighting
Blood Orange – “Time Will Tell”

From Kendrick Lamars Hippie label TDE. Finally he signed someone who sings
SZA - "Ice Moon"

Daft Punk's Instant Crush ft.Julian Casablancas (ha!)

If life has become dull, I have some meds for you

All this psychedelic rap is making me think this is a distinct time for hip hop, it seems to be sounding more and more like Hardstyle Trap
Schoolboy Q’s “Collard Greens” The video is proof that this is a party cut, people spraying silly-string with multi-colored, kaleidoscopic shots and yeah thats Macklemore hanging out in the video.

Major Lazer and Knife Fight go to stop a new missile by terrorist General Rubbish, who looks like a cross between M. Bison and Bane.
The Blu product placement is genius, Nick Kroll is great being serious giving orders to the heroes,  Blake from Workaholics is also in this Robocop inspired wacky vid
 Major Lazer Scare Me

Nabil might be the highest quality music-video director right now, Alex Turner, has a amazing performance playing drunk.. or he is just really schwasted and not so much acting.
Arctic Monkeys “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?”

Baauer famous of course because of Harlem Shake keeps stepping up to the plate.
Nabil is sooo legit, I can't wait till he is making Hollywood feature films mark my words.
Kids getting beat at 5:06
Just Blaze and Baauer “Higher”

This video and song somehow makes me think of good ice cream.
Ra Ra Riot clearly keep thinking about  how the world will evolve, trippy Star Trekishness
Binary Mind

King Tuff’s “Sun Medallion,”  reissued with a new video. Set in a graveyard with plenty of psychedelic animation. Proof that late sixties-esque pyschedelic guitar songs are still fuking cool

Kim Deal’s quit the Pixies again, and she’s reunited with the Breeders on tour. She's also busy doing her new solo stuff. Porcelain figurines with feelings.
Are You Mine?

Sub pop LA cuties dream-punkers No Age return with their new album An Object. Band members Dean Spunt and Randy Randall  directed the video, Its something your art-student friends would make and then force you to watch. but it still stands as an excuse to listen to a deeply pretty song again

I Covered Summer Camps lyric video for their song Fresh in my last post
Here they are again with the official Video, such a catchy song

Immediatly capyivating and interesting is Butter The Children’s new single  Spit It Out,  We’ll be seeing a lot more of them in the future.

WTF is going on in this video? Just a bunch of super cool aliens and Lennon esque vocals...reminds me of the horned corpse of spanish sea monster that washed ashore last week.

SD and Danny Brown In Detroit drinking Codeine syrup

Pity Sex from niegboring Ann Arbor, white boying it up in their video for Wind Up

Shot in Alexandra, Johannesburg, B Jaxx hone in on some "pantsula,” a style of dance originating from the area
Basement Jaxx’s “What A Difference Your Love Makes”

Dream shit, Fools Gold 's  World’s Fair
Shomi Patwary directed clips for A-Trak and Prodigy.Shomi Patwary is huge in the New York underground rap scene.
96 Knicks

Riff Raff has some serious basketball skills. "Im Gary Payton", white Lebron James, haha

Like really cool gafitti this vid Lord Quas (the alter-ego of Madlib) “Catchin’ The Vibe” that features a vinyl crafting garbage man (loosly based off of me I think) Like Quasimoto the man seems beyond that of a normal human.
..

For u fellow mensa heads
Floaters.. You know what I’m talking about really, really tiny kind of floats on your eye and you get that weird ghosting image. It’s common, pretty much harmless, and actually kind of cool when it happens. Shoegazers Medicine must have thought it was cool too, since the phenomenon is referenced in their new vid It’s Not Enough.

Super cute huge nerd singer/songwriter Laura Veirs out of Portland new song and vid Sun Song. She once worked as a translator for a geological expedition in China.. so cool! Superimposed  images of Veirs over stock footage of clouds and seagulls.

Going to Cedar Point

The Glasgow trio have had their hand doing less commercial sounding music before they became CHVRCHES , but hey, why not do some big choruses and catchy hooks and get signed by Virgin?
Before they were CHVRCHES there was Blue Sky Archives, Aereogramme, The Unwinding Hours and The Twilight Sad, not your typical pop band variety.

I don't think I properly pronouce Abel Tesfaye, aka the Weeknd, he landed “Kiss Land” earlier this year, you’re watching fuzzy security camera tapes, a bit NSFW but that hasn't stopped you before.

Abel's also plays(on) a hitman in Juicy J's video. Hollywood?!

The Californian Clavin sisters who are Bleached, punk out emo style with some fun colorful visuals to trip to. Welcome Summertime!

This shiz is catchy,"Wavves",which is Nathan Williams and a revolving door or other band members, used to give off such a post-acid-west-coast-surf-rock vibe, they still sound that way, but in the video it all comes off pretty gothy with the rocker hair and mannerisms. Not to mention the big guy with his mastery of swords, he could be the new Gallagher who knows. It gets even weirder when he starts chopping meat and everyone starts digging in.

Warp records "Oneohtrix Point Never"'s video for "Still Life" is old school high tech visuals. I really can't figure it all out and all but thats why they probably why they are calling this an "excerpt".

"Bloc Party" Brit band has been at it for awhile, their new video for their song "Ratchet" gets increasingly more absurd and fractally, good times.

Partially filmed on the Empire State Building, I get vertigo just watching them up there, yeah yeah.

Another lyric video from Sub Pop darlings "Washed Out", who sound like their name, which apparently is a good thing.

"Solar Year", duo from Montreal(now in L.A?), link up with director Allie Avital Tsypin for their new video. This beautifully shot video covers alot of ground to say the least. The band states;“The music video for “Global Girlfriend” is essentially a series of “paintings” that explore sacred spaces, death, relaxation, and ideas of paradise."

A-Trak and Armand Van Helden-duo "Duck Sauce" already have a video for their club track "It’s You” and they are NY barbers. I guess you have to live in NY to get it.I luv the neon haired dreads tho@(2:07)

Since seeing the crazy dominoes video for his "Tuna Melt" track, I've now trusted A-Trak for zany music videos, this one for "Jumbo" features alot of different perpective basketball.

Boston based shoegazi punk Young Adults challenge societal norms in this self help music video.

Moms Bday

" Ivan Grbovic made this video at such a high quality(its also slightly frightening). I imagine alot of post-production was needed in order to create the effects for Young Galaxy's video for "New Summer"
Yeep

This Montreal DJ/producer duo are touring now and play heavy improv dance music live which is in stark contrast to the tracks from Blue Hawaii's album Untogether, which are all more ethereal and soft. The actor in the video is deaf and she and director Melissa Matos evoke the feel. Matos; "sounds sometimes appear to her as colors or vibrations which is what helped shape the palette we see in the video in a really organic way. To her, the feeling comes through the colors."

Disclosure is Guy and Howard Lawrence.Young producers from Surrey. Their debut album ""Settle" was released on June 3rd and is already huge. Hopefully it is feeding them very well. They have a crazy slew of new remixes coming out from everyone, also if you missed it, I posted their video for "When A Fire Starts To Burn" last week. The video for "You & Me" is simple cute.

Sub Pop flower kaledescopes and closed caption for those who cant understand what this guy is trying to sing about.

Jenn Wasner and Jon Ehrens are Dungeonesse, and their video for “Nightlight,” from director Ariana Natale, is Wasner in her ornate bedroom as she dreams about jellyfishes in colorful soft focus.

Cambridge, resident Samuel Emerson Iliffe, a.k.a. Ill Life, has a talent for sweet stripped down big room techno and noise, This video is a perfect backdrop to the warehouse parties of the 90s that went on aLL night.Video by Rafael Bucio

"Noisey" which is attached to Vice magazine, made a video for BRTSH KNIGHTS,who are from South London?? Nobody seems to know who these guys are. Infectious "If I Was To" sounds like old UK garage back when it still was trying to emulate Chicago House. It's fun medieval film footage montage time!

Redinho has some new music and a new video to showcase his 80s Wave sound
Catch some red polygons if you like.

xSDTRK is Yonatan Ayal from Montreal, he supposedly started with the piano at the wee age of three, and is doing all sorts of music nowadays.  Pretty video which lends itself nicely to his track "Powder"

Foxygen is L.A duo of Sam France (Olympia, WA) and Jonathan Rado (NYC) They form a washy mid sixties influenced Psychpop sound, This video is from earlier this year but seems more appropriate now that summer is about to be here.

Blludd Relations have a whack new video for their equally bizaree tune "Even Steven",  Party sausage pomp, craven funk, pudding bowl pop and jazz for logs. This is a vinyl-only release odd..

New video by Action Bronson, "Strictly My Jeeps" I guess conglomerate Noisey is paying for video costs again...A Polka dotted Riff Raff loses a chain due to Action Bronson impersonating Gary Neal on a bet.

Dippin into pop

U.K. brother duo Disclosure sample Eric Thomas, one of the top motivational speakers in the world! Chicago house inspired Garage, Rapture!

Vampire Weekend already burned a couple of Saabs in the lyric video. Now they’ve made a proper video for their song, a last supper with Santigold(did anyone see her play a vocal judge on the last episode of the Office?), and members of Chromeo etc, Primo Khan directs the filling of saxophones

Mudhoney has been with Sub Pop since they started 25 years ago and are the most resilient and most respectable grunge band from Seattle, Their new video, from their ninth studio album is a very ingenious fast paced one that sews a long sequence together in a fun way

New from Carpark records, Baltimore producer Benny Boeldt’s Adventure project. It's bit crushing sonic geekery and with a mind melting technicolor visual to boot!

Lets take a quick pee Vine break with Riff Raff

From Austin, Sleep ∞ Over (wtf is ∞ anyway?) they are back and missing are just a few band members.. Sleepy Shoegaze pop and pillowy reflections choreographed in an odd feminine witchery ritual

I only just recently seen this video, The song is ancient but the video only came out 8 months ago. Why does Alan Palomo have to look so silly rocking out?

Lil Debbie from the bay is sticking with a Trap sound just waiting to blow up

The Swed Duo CAZZETTE seems to be played everywhere right now even on the radio. Alyssa Veniece kicks some serious dude ass in the video for their song Weapon

Yep, I really like this song, well the vocals at least.I didn't ever think she could bellow out a song like this, and she does and with somehing real behind it. This video is one of the worst kinds of videos though, From the make up to the backing rock band, hair blowing, gloves?(NM its paint), leather.. With her hair back she could almost pass for Natalie Portman

Doppin Deep!!

May is over already?? Not Quite

This ridiculous video is one of a kind, none better than Diplo to make this incredibly over the top New York silly faux pas art film trying to be ironic and artsy but ends up looking just vainly uninspired and hypocritical of itself.
Anyhow, thats how it made me feel but I kinda like it too a little..

Newb LA singer/songwriter BANKS is making good waves. Latest single written by Banks ‘Warm Water’ has been blessed with the production of  T.E.E.D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)

Originally from Portland, Johnny Jewel and Ida No's Glass Candy is back with some new visuals, Video features footage of the group recording the song in their Montreal studio, shot by Martin D'Argensio.
I can't believe it this guy is still doing vinyl releases!

So bizarre Cold Cave go full acid trip collage in their video for “Black Boots.” Directed by Slava Tsukerman, who is known for his 1980s cult film Liquid Sky, a film recognized for heavily influencing the electroclash scene in the early 2000s. The plot of Liquid Sky revolves around a  nightclub, BUT OH NEVERMIND I GUESS THIS IS SOOO GOTH ITS NOW PRIVATE ALL THE SUDDEN. man that was a cool video.. I'll try to track it down, strange backdrops, lighting and costumes I remember and that guys face.. now the link completely disappeared..
ANYWAYS..
///////

Simian Mobile Disco and Bicep link up for “Sacrifice.”rolling vid of greyscale animation, helixes moving along to the beat.

SF artist Scott Hansen who goes by the name ISO50 when he works on his photo and design. As a musician, he is Tycho, the producer of lovely trippy pastel ambient music. This is the video for his new track, "Ascension," directed by Charles Bergquist.

The Montreal band Young Galaxy. Their last video“Pretty Boy” video was a weird as fuck love story about two people in unbelievably creepy masks. And their new all-CGI clip for “Fall For You” shows us nice alternate universe science experiments.

Secret Circuit is Eddie Ruscha, self-described as Cosmic Jam-Jazz with hints of Tropical Psychedelics
He gives along with Diego Herrera (Suzanne Kraft) they collaborated on this piece, with drawings by Eddie brought to life by Diego with some very trippy animation.

Brooklyn’s People Get Ready self-titled debut “Zelda Maria”. The title track has an experimental visual, heavy on image-manipulation. The dancing was choreographed by Tere O’Conor, while Steve Reker worked with video artist Ty Flowers to edit the images.

Holy Ghost! duo Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel released a new song and video, “Dumb Disco Ideas.” The video contains a single high-speed shot taken overnight on a Brooklyn rooftop and a modest light show to go along with it, this is all tougher than it looks: The lights had to have been programmed to very slow speeds so once everything is sped up to show the night passing into day, it locks into sync perfectly with the music, amazingly eight minutes.

Catchy synth-rock jam from the L.A. band Hands. New video“Brave Motion,” a mini-action movie in trippily animated form. Director Johnny Woods weaves a story of a young woman on the run from nefarious forces, watch her thrilling if confounding escape

And don't let me forget to remind you all to check out my latest Limerence mix, avant-garde Traptro or something.. Please have a listen.

It's May MMXIII

Once known as Oregon Bike Trails,Cayucas(named after a Californian beach town) is a fun surfy indie jam band, a kinda mix of sound between Beck and Vampire Weekend, catchy and uplifting.

Cayucas - High School Lover

My favorite suburban hoodrat Lil Debbie gets a group of  gals with similar shape and skin tone for her crew of back up dancers? Anyway I enjoy the Irony and the Trap style beats.

Well nobody knows who this U guy/girl is but the crackly nostalga sound gives  me warm memories of when we actually danced all night to this kind of house and somtimes scratchy old techno records.

MMAKEU01 - U - EAH

From Sydney, brothers Cosmo's Midnight and fellow Aussie  Nicole Millar deliver some deep bassy chillwave  and a video which seems to indicate letting go.

Cosmo's Midnight - Phantasm feat. Nicole Millar

Secretly Canadian has some cool indie finds on their label( Cayucas to name one), at just over 2 minutes its my kind of vocal jingle(great overdubs)
and the cgi used in the video is simple, creative and unique.

Nightlands - "I Fell In Love With A Feeling"

Louisa Rose Allen(who is Foxes) Is back since her underground hit "Youth" The video starts with a clip from 90s classic shit film “Drop Dead Fred”  starring some Brit and my childhood crush Pheobe Cates, alluding to the validity of fairy tale endings, and I appreciated all the clumsy silly looking 80's models.

FOXES 'Beauty Queen'

I didn't realize there was a video to this song, I was playing the White Arrows remix a lot last year, what a sweet sad song and video.

Active Child - Johnny Belinda Official Video

DIANA(yep all caps not my call)  foursome hail from Toronto, scuzzy lush dream pop in infrared and  ultraviolet.

DIANA - "Born Again"

London recloose artist Twigs and only her 5th release and another visually confounding video.

Twigs - How's That

From the depths of L.A. Ken Rangkuty is just a wizard in front of a keyboard.
"Where I Belong” is the second video to be taken from Keenhouse‘s second album, “Four Dreams“.

Keenhouse - Where I Belong

Even though I like NOMS original version the best, it doesn't have a video sooo.. Beautiful shots of connections being made in nature, so purty.

Connection - NOMS feat. Padro (Moduloktopus reLove Remix)

Detroit-bred crooner JMSN and Ta-ku from down under team up for a sexy cut.

Ta-ku - Make It Last feat.JMSN

Tame Impala also from Perth, Australia have a great late 60's esque vibe going on, self descibed as hypno-groove melodic rock, and as soon as you think the video is a cheap knockoff of Dustin Hoffman's famous role, it takes you on a a trip to eternity or something..

Tame Impala - MindMischief

Also From Tame Impala from november of last year, so where is the Lysergic diethylamide?

Prrr..

 ☠DEAD❤ISLAND☠ - kitty

From Manchester cool tunage and vide, minimal D&B riddim and rapid fire vowels for super-dextrous gynoids and mandroids.

Dub Phizix Skittles - I'm A Creator

Can't help but post you all the time Jodi.. "Why all the lies Franco?" For revenge RiFF RAFF got  in an episode of One Life to Live. The MC plays a Miami art dealer called Jamie Franko. Riff Raff's gag goes deeper than just his character's name: the real Franco is notorious for a recurring guest role on another US soap, General Hospital. and p.s Franco was horrible as OZ jus sayin

Toro Y Moi "Never Matter"
Another cool vid by Toro Y Moi, Molly Mcnutt is sooo cute!

A Tooth For An Eye deconstructs images of maleness, power and leadership. Who are the people we trust as our leaders and why? What do we have to learn from those we consider inferior? In a sport setting where one would traditionally consider a group of men as powerful and in charge, an unexpected leader emerges. A child enters and allows the men to let go of their hierarchies, machismo and fear of intimacy, as they follow her into a dance. Their lack of expertise and vulnerability shines through as they perform the choreography. Amateurs and skilled dancers alike express joy and a sense of freedom; There is no prestige in their performance. The child is powerful, tough and sweet all at once, roaring “I’m telling you stories, trust me”. There is no shame in her girliness, rather she possesses knowledge that the men lost a long time ago.
